Rep. Spencer Hutchins speaks against a bill to remove Washington’s death penalty statute

Rep. Spencer Hutchins, R-Gig Harbor, speaks against Senate Bill 5087 ahead of final passage. The bill – titled “Defects and Omissions” – repeals or amends several state statutes, including the state’s death penalty statute. The bill is on the way to the governor’s desk. Should he sign it there will no longer be a death penalty statute in Washington state.
